What If I was a Girl?

I had gone to the local bus stand at 4Am in the morning yesterday. JP [Humble Arrogance] wanted to smoke a cigarette and i wanted to eat/drink some fresh air, so went to the bus stand and saw buses coming from different places and going to different places. People got down, some boarded the bus and the journey continued. It gave me a very strange and nice feeling that I was looking at the moving buses. Drivers changed hands , passengers got changed but the bus moved on, to a new destination for some and the same old one for itself.

I felt happy that I was looking at buses and the lights and the open sky and the dark black roads.

I felt free, I wanted to come down and I came down.
I did not seek anybody's permission, I just thought and I did.
JP wanted to smoke so he smoked, I wanted to look at the buses, so I stood there and watched. I did not care about the taxi drivers who were drunk or those who were not even taxi drivers but were yet drunk.
I laughed loudly, I even abused randomly, some people looked at me but they were drunk and I was not.
The buses went away, I said a silent bye to them and JP laughed at me because I was looking at the buses, I said Fuck You to him and asked him not to blow his smoke on me.

We came back and then I thought a dangerous thought, What if I was a girl?
I would not have owned a bike and even if I had one I would not have come down to the bus stand just to look at the buses.
I would have feared my parents, what if they get to know.
I would have tried to hide it from my brothers because they would have felt bad.
I would not have told this to my boyfriend because he would have simply not taken this shit.

And then I reached my room and realized that I was not a girl. I did not have to seek permissions or hide anything from anyone.
I don't seek permission of my parents for many things, for anything almost, but things would have been very different if I was a girl. Permissions, rules, freedom, free will, this looks crazy when I think about life that way because we ,for sure, live in a crazy society.
There is a good old friend of mine who wanted to buy a dress, a nice skirt. She told me that she would buy it and wear it in her house because it was bit revealing and uncommon for a small town.

I did not think twice before buying a worn-out jeans for myself and she lost the charm of the dress because people would stare. She even told me that people try to make a move if they see someone wearing such dresses.

Ah! We live in a crazy society for sure.

What if I was a girl?
I would have been very very sad if I were a girl. :(

Absolutely true...If a girl is smoking or boozing among strangers with her friend then rest start staring at her as if they hv noticed an alien...once i read an interview of sm famous model in which she said in India people look at you as if u r naked n tht is very sadistic statement made by her :(

absolutely true if you want say in general not specifically about girls . but I think u are wrong if you are focused on girls only. time to time and place to place situation of every human being depends on their society. some one borne in middle class family goes to slum area, he/she will definitely say thank god I am not borne here. some rich person, who never traveled by bus, as you was travelling in,who was always given gifts like car/ bike on his/her b'day, will say thank god I am not borne in a family where I would have to travel by this bus. as you are happy without thinking about that rich person. similarly maximum of girls also happy. :)
Correct me if I am wrong ..

Bagga it is not about rich/poor, its about the second half of society. Imagine your sister doing things you have been doing after drinking?
Do you see that happening?
I cant imagine my sisters standing at the bus standing @ the bust stand @4, just looking at the buses.
So, you got it wrong, there is no justification to it, thinking before buying a dress ? Thinking about what people might do
Fuck, all the word must become Hiroshima, if that is the age w e live in

Kabhi Kabhi achanak se kuch strike ho jata hai na?

Many a times we take many things for granted & freedom is one such thing! Not everyone has the Freedom to do things the way they want to!

Nice thought on the never changing passing bus :-)

its not as bad tarun ...

very early in our lives we are taught to conform....we learn about the perils of going to the bus stations at 4 in the morning....
of how we might invoke the satan in a guy if we wear a short dress ...

and if we dont happen to be the giving in types ...if we do decide to wear what we like , we just get leered at ...or if we decide to fulfill the whim to have tea at 2 in the night , we might just get raped ....
and guess what ,even be blamed for it ..

its REALLY not that bad..

It's like uve thrown a stone in the volcano filled with lava upto its brim..........Things are gonna go hot from here :P

What needs to be pointed out here is that the society was not always like this ..........in the past, the Aryan times, the society was completely different.

While there are millions of stories to quote, Ill quote the story of Jupiter and the Moon from the puranas. .......wife of jupiter leaves him to go on live with Moon simply coz she is attracted to him physically and that he is sexually far superior.....she even bears a son later with him ....and Jupiter accepts it coz she made a concious decision as a woman.....he accepts the son as well.....likewise, Draupdi's character reveals a lot abt status of woman in those times.....
